Kraft Foods: Ultimate Seven-Layer Bars

December 7, 2011 1 comment

One of the best things about holidays is the food, especially the desserts! There is no picture attached to the following recipe, but just reading the ingredients makes me drool a little. Oreos, chocolate, butterscotch, toffee – COME ON PEOPLE! I need to make these ASAP.

Ham, Turkey & Swiss Sliders w/ Honey BBQ Lays

Sometimes, simple is good. Today’s Sunday Lunch was just that! Making do with what I had left over from our New Years Eve gathering, I threw together a tasty little lunch for myself this afternoon. Thinly sliced smoked turkey, honey-baked ham and Swiss cheese with white and wheat slider rolls. On the side we have some plain old Lays brand honey barbecue potato chips. Much more tasty than a grease-laden cheeseburger from some fast food chain.

The fine folks over at the Serious Eats blog have an article that covers a very serious problem: Golf Ball Syndrome.

Golf ball syndrome, a terrible affliction that affects millions of grilled or broiled burgers every year.

I admit, I’ve been victim to this horrible ordeal, but the next time I throw some burgers on the grill, I plan on putting this advice to use!  I hope this helps rid the world of such an atrocious problem.

Blood is Thicker than Chicken

A woman at work went by KFC during her lunch break last night and ordered a 2 pc. leg snack.  They were out of legs so she got a breast.  We’re outside afterwards and she comes walking up to us looking a little peaked … opens up the chicken box and showed us the nearly uncooked, bloody chicken inside.

They told her to come in today and they’d replace it with a complete meal.  Good deal, I suppose, if you wanna eat there again.  But she seems to be expecting them to give her a 10pc. meal with all the sides and drinks.  Not sure if that’ll work, but then again, I wouldn’t care since there was blood inside that chicken.  Very nasty, indeed.

This was the KFC in La Vergne, on Murfreesboro Rd.  I’ve never known anyone personally who went in and came out a happy camper.

My Wife Has Declared War On Krystals

My wife called home around 7:15 tonight and wanted to know if I wanted anything from Krystals.  She was at the drive-thru and about to order.  I told her to just pick me up a couple of Krystal burgers or something.

She finally makes it home around 7:55.  After paying for her order, she was asked to pull up.  She waited there for 10 minutes before finally getting out and going in, where there were 3 other people in line getting their orders complete with fries.  My wife asked them what was taking so long, and they told her they were waiting on fries … to which she inquired about the folks in line having some. A guy behind the counter proceeded to throw a “someone’s having chick problems tonight,” at her, to which Jenn replied that he’d best shut his smart mouth if he knew what was good for him.

She’s gonna call the manager tomorrow, but honestly, should she expect any less from Krystals or McDonalds?  This is what these places have been reduced to.  And no offense, but half the workers are either young black thugs, punk-ass white kids or mexicans that can’t speak English to start with.  I doubt she’ll get anything other than a quick, half-hearted “sorry,” but at least she’s going to try.

Oh, and for the record, if any drive-thru ever asks you to pull up, refuse.  I’ve found this out many moons ago and don’t do it anymore.

For the record, this was the Krystals on Nissan Drive in Smyrna.
