Monday Tidbits

  • A Reuters article explains how Sony has finally cut the price of their PSP Go system to $199 from $249, here in the U.S.  Joystiq and several Amazon users say it’s been a preview price for buyers for several months.  I’d almost consider buying one now, if I didn’t have my eye set on a DSiXL.  That huge screen rocks!
  • Amazon seems to be boasting that Kindle ebooks are outselling their soft/hardcover siblings at a rate “greater than 2 to 1.”  There are other facts and figures via Amazon’s latest press release, which can be found here.
  • Continuing with more news with Amazon’s name being dropped, the popular online shopping site is also offering Capcom titles at a discount in their Deal of the Day feature.  Dead Rising for $11.64, Lost Planet 2 for $19.99, Megan Man Zero Collection for $19.99.  Check them out at their Deal of the Day page.
  • The NY Times has a 3-page article discussing the Microsoft Xbox 360 Kinect.  They say the original prototype cost $30,000 to make.  That $150 price tag on the retail version doesn’t seem too steep now, does it?
  • To possibly coincide with their release of the rumored Nook Color tomorrow, Barnes & Noble has announced Nook Kids this week.  The Wall Street Journal reported that the company will launch a digital collection of more than 12,000 books under the Nook Kids name, aimed at children 3 to 8 years old including picture books, novels and “a selection of enhanced editions of classics.”  Hmm, this just might be their chance to break into some digital comics, too, huh?

That’s all I have to offer, at the moment, but would love to do something like this every couple of days.  I love sharing what I find interesting and noteworthy on the ‘net, even if no one else cares.  Plus, it lets me get a bit of writing in without having to worry about creating a decent sized post when I just don’t have the time or energy.  Thanks, and have a great week!
