Microsoft, being the type that they are, have decided to shut down their blogging services. MSN Spaces, or whatever it was being called these days, is going away, and users have until March of 2011 to download, transfer or delete their blogs. If you transfer, Microsoft and WordPress are making it extremely easy. All you have to do is sign in to your Live account, go to your blog and select to move it to WordPress. They take care of the rest! You can also choose to start a new blog just for your old content, or merge it with an existing WordPress blog. I chose to merge, so readers should be aware that I’ve suddenly grown a few extra years of blog posts. The only problem I’ve found is that pictures related to posts were not transfered. Those remain on Microsoft’s Skydrive service, so some older 2008 blog posts may be missing pictures or video files where relevant.
